The big take away here is to figure out what you want to do with your mac, then get an idea of what products Apple has to offer. I'd suggest going into an Apple store and trying a few different machines out. I'd even let the Apple store employees help you in making your decision.

Buy an external HDD at least twice the size of the HDD in the Apple Product.
